I’m Antoinette! At six years old I woke up in excruciating pain. My parents had no idea what was wrong with me. They rushed me to the local hospital in Camden, AR where they sent me to the children’s hospital in Little Rock, AR.
After many test, I was diagnosed with sickle cell disease. This is where the struggle to live began.
As I tried to be a normal kid, this disease taught me I could not really quick. If I tried, I would have to take a trip to the hospital in severe pain for days.
There is no cure but I always had hope. As I became an adult, I learned the do’s and don’t of this disease. Their was times I would have loved to exert myself with cardio and just play in the snow however, I could not over exert and I could not get to cold because these two activities would send me for a stay in the hospital.
“You learn to deal with your shortcomings in life as I have.”
Now I do not have to limit myself because there is a cure. My son (Brandon) and a great friend of mine (Jean) seen newscast from our local ABC Chicago about a cure for a disease that has been a part of my life for forty-two years.
I started to research this cure and eventually emailed the director over the program. And this is where my journey began. Follow along to see how this has changed my life.
Love Antoinette ❤️
